The City of Waverly garbage trucks pick up garbage once a week for residents. The trucks start collection at 7:00 a.m. each day. Please have your garbage out the night before or at least by 7:00 a.m. on your garbage day. Waverly is divided into 5 sections. If you are unsure as to the day your garbage is picked up, call the Public Services Division at 352-6247 (or 352-9065).
1. Personal Garbage Container or Garbage Bag
Base Rate: $ 8.50 per month - The City of Waverly’s Solid Waste Division charges a base rate for garbage collection which is paid monthly by residents. This base rate covers fixed expenses such as the Recycling Center, Curbside Recycling Truck, Yard Waste Site Operation, Maintenance of Garbage Trucks, and the Employee Labor Costs.

As of July 1, 2004, only Waverly residents with a parcel of ground greater than 1/2 acre are allowed to burn yard waste on their property (with time restrictions from 9:00 a.m. to sundown). Welcome to the City of Waverly Street Division. The Street Division involves many diverse areas and maintains approximately 70 miles / 1,126 blocks of primary streets, 10 miles of gravel roads and alleys, and numerous municipal-owned parking lots.
In order to prolong the life the City streets, the City of Waverly’s Street Division fills pot holes in streets and alleys, replaces damaged concrete panels, and performs crack sealing.

The above rates are based on monthly consumption of water. It is expressly provided, however, that each and every building, tenant, premises or each and every separate service connected with the water system shall be charged and shall pay monthly for the use of water measured and registered by meter, a minimum rate as follows:

If your garbage day falls on or near one of the following holidays, please take note of the day your garbage will need to be placed out for collection. This will also include collection of your curbside recyclables if the holiday falls during a *Curbside Recycling Week.
Items such as vacuum cleaners, toilet stools, lamps, etc., can have a garbage sticker placed directly on each item and placed by your regular garbage for collection by the garbage truck.
Bremer County has a Regional Collection Center for Household Hazardous Materials located at the Bremer County Landfill, 2049 200th Street, Waverly (3 miles north of Highway 3 on Highway 63 and then ½ mile west or left onto 200th Street). This site is open for Bremer County residents only (no businesses) at no charge.
Waverly's Recycling Center is open every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Volunteer groups are still needed to work any Recycling Saturdays. Volunteers will be available from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (Noon). If there is no volunteer group working a Recycling Saturday, then users of the Recycling Center will need to sort their own recyclables.
The City of Waverly's Yard Waste Site is located at 2800 5th Ave. NW (West of Krueger's Auto) at the site of the new Recycling Center. Leaves, grass clippings, garden waste, trees, branches and brush are accepted there at no charge. (The Bremer County Landfill does not accept yard waste.) The Yard Waste Site also accepts large, bulky items that are not to be picked up by the City's garbage trucks. There is a fee for disposal of these items.
During designated week(s) each spring and fall, the City of Waverly offers a free collection of leaves and yard waste that have been placed in biodegradable bags. Please note that sticks and brush are only picked up during the spring free collection weeks and not during the fall. Further details are listed below:
The City of Waverly provides snow and ice control in a safe and cost effect manner. A reasonable level of service for clearance of snow or ice and maintenance of the street system during the winter months is necessary for routine travel and emergency services.

The Water Division plays an important role for every resident and visitor of Waverly. Water quality and quantity is what this division is all about.
