Waverly Launches Interactive Text Alert System
The City of Waverly is excited to launch TextMyGov, a new, smart text messaging service! Residents can receive important notifications from the City and can also text the City to find specific information or make reports.
The TextMyGov system will be launched on September 25th. Residents may receive a text message from 91896, this will prompt a message from the City initiating the service. You can choose to opt out at any time by texting STOP.
If you don’t receive this initial message, you can choose to opt-in by texting the keyword “WAVERLY” to the number 91896. After sending the initial keyword, you will be asked to reply “YES” to confirm opt-in.
Alerts!
The City plans to send text notifications for things that will impact residents. Some of these may include:
- Changes to garbage/recycling pickup day due to holidays. (Text WAVERLY and your route day to 91896 to sign up for notices that impact your garbage and recycling pickup - example Text WAVERLYMONDAY to 91896)
- Disruptions to water service.
- Flooding information.
- Street closures or detours.
- City services delayed or cancelled due to weather.
Information On-Demand!
Through the TextMyGov system, residents will also be able to receive on-demand information 24/7 by texting 1-2 keywords to the City’s TextMyGov number, 319-419-4459. Information will be available about multiple city services.
Quick Reporting!
Residents will also be able to use the system to report issues such as:
- Garbage & Recycling – missed pickup or cart repairs needed
- Streets – potholes, traffic signals not functioning
- Sewer – residential sewer backup, manhole covers displaced, storm sewer blocked
- Trees in the Right-of-Way – trimming or tree assessment needed
- Water – leaks, no water service, low water pressure
