Rental Property Regulations

The City of Waverly requires minimum maintenance standards and maximum occupancy levels of all residential rental properties observed within the City. No person shall lease, rent or otherwise allow a rental unit within the City to be occupied without first obtaining a rental registration permit from the City and designating a responsible local agent.
Please submit the Rental Housing Registration Application and the Rental Housing Self-Inspection Checklist to register. Once registered, a renewal application will be due once every three (3) years from the initial year of submittal. (See Chapter 91, Rental Housing Code in City of Waverly Code.)
There is a charge for registering, but no charge for the inspection sheet or renewals that are submitted in a timely matter. Additional self-inspection checklists can be found here.

Owners can opt to have their information included on a Landlord Database for prospective tenants. A list can be obtained by emailing zoning@waverlyia.com.
Complaints
The self-inspection checklist includes items the city is able to enforce. Please review prior to submitting a complaint form to ensure the city will be able to assist you with your matter.
